Troon remembers 4 Commando
Updated: Mar 11
In the very impressive surroundings of Piersland House Hotel in Troon the wartime presence of 4 Commando was recalled. At a lunchtime talk the Scott Sutherland Project was presented with emphasis placed upon the strong bond between Troon and the Commando constituency. Billeted in the town before and after Operation Jubilee (Dieppe) local families keenly felt the loss of 'their boys'.
On completion of the talk the ladies generously donated £100 to the Scott Sutherland Project through the Go Fund Me platform.
Thanks to their kindness they have helped the project committee to continue with their aim of dedicating the Leaping Salmon memorial statue at Achnacarry for the officers and men killed and injured during commando training.
Great work ladies, Troon remembers.
Thank you ladies of Troon for your most welcomed, kind and generous support , “ Lest We Forget “. I’m confident you would have enjoyed the Scott Sutherland Commando Heritage trail update , delivered in indomitable style by our project manager Veteran Royal Marine Commando Steve Nicoll .
