WELCOME TO THE SCOTT SUTHERLAND PROJECT

Commando Memorial Heritage Trail

THE PROJECT - AT THE LINE!

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN

You have been nothing short of incredible! Your generosity of spirit and financial support has ACHIEVED the target we set four years ago.

Phase 1 is almost complete, with all plaques now produced by our partners Anglia Castings and the last remaining two awaiting final placement.

Phase 2 set out to fund the recreation in bronze of Scotty's 'lost statue' the

Leaping Salmon. This has been accomplished by a great example of teamwork - YOU helped us raise the money, Scotty's family provided support and guidance, Sutherland's own student Alan Beattie-Herriot recreated the form, Powderhall Bronze in Edinburgh produced the statue - amazing!

We are proud to tell you that every penny you donated has gone directly to producing the successful outcome to this mission.

The joint Army, Royal Marines team off veterans will attend the unveiling ceremony of the Leaping Salmon at the Commando Memorial, Spean Bridge on

Saturday 27th September 2025 to mark the anniversary of the original unveiling of the Commando monument by H.M. Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother in 1952.

The Leaping Salmon will be dedicated to the Officers and Men who were killed or seriously injured during Commando Training in Scotland.

YOU - Got It Done!

SPECIAL NOTICE:

In 2014, the Commando Museum located at Spean Bridge Hotel was CLOSED. Seven decades of operational artefacts, were threatened with total loss, including historical records and WW2 documents. With the help of the local community and Commando veterans everything was saved and is now in storage.

The feasibility study carried out by this joint RMA and CA team determined that these commando artefacts MUST be returned to the public domain.
