On the 7th of August 2025 the ninth commemorative statue plaque was unveiled in Aberdeen by the Lord Lieutenant David Cameron. Scott Sutherland studied at Grays School of Art between 1928 & 1929 before moving to Edinburgh to complete his studies under the tutelage of Alexander Carrick.
The buildings were acquired by Robert Gordon University (RGU) who lease it to OneTech Hub. The project committee are grateful to RGU for arranging so much on our behalf and with an accompanying smile. Thanks to the amazing staff of OneTech, Jelena, Caroline and Megan for making us feel so welcome.
And a genuine warm vote of thanks to everyone who attended the unveiling service, it was another wonderful day for the Scott Sutherland team. Brechin businessman, Ewen Mitchell, presented the project with a generous donation of £100. We've almost a our funding target.
The next scheduled event is a big one. The 27th of September 2025. The Leaping Salmon statue will be unveiled and dedicated at the Commando Memorial, Spean Bridge. This date marks the 63rd anniversary of the unveiling of the Commando Memorial in 1952 by Elizabeth, The Queen Mother.
